The contractor said the foundation was going to need at least 30k of work due to termite damage. 

This job is typically 100% commission, but being that it is not an entry level position and I am an entry level candidate, they have offered me a decent sized salary to supplement me until I can establish a foundation in my area.

Water, sewage etc under and around the foundation would have created major issues and at least this is a clear cut insurance claim while sewer issues can be dicey.
