There is a monthly in person BP event, an event called pints and properties, a triangle deal makers session, NCREIA, and Triangle Real Estate Investors Association (TREIA) that meet in and around the Raleigh area. 

This is near the hood in Durham, and the general area's RTP(rent to price not research triangle park) is horrible. $1700 ish gets you a 2/2 rented closer to Duke, a 2/1 will be closer to $1400 if not less in this area. $240k is priced to trigger a bidding war, I just am not a fan of the neighborhood.

Unless you have a triangle or real weird shape, you should get more buildable square feet.

I manage a mid-term rental in Cary and there is a lot of demand in the triangle for displaced home owners so that may be worth considering.

I also highly recommend the Triangle Real Estate Investor Association.

There are 3 hospitals that make a triangle between Shrewsbury Street and Belmont Street. 

I live outside Atlanta and have plans to expand our other business to Tennessee (chattanooga, nashville, knoxville triangle) and Texas (austin/dallas/tyler area).
