So if you did do something with a 3 vs 1 bedroom unit, the square footage in the 3 bed unit is presumably larger allowing you to claim a larger percentage of the property taxes.If you're currently paying close to $1900 in rent, also consider how much you'd save by living in it.

If you can get into something like a value-ad duplex in Longmont or a 3-5 bed SFH in Gunbarrel/Martin Acres/Longmont/Lafayette for example and rent rooms to friends, I'd say you're making a very smart move.
