Hi there, I'm new to BiggerPockets, and new to real estate investing as a whole.I'm a Marine Corps reservist and veteran, so I should qualify for a VA loan once I start full-time work in May.I'm interested in getting into multifamily units locally (I live in Provo, UT) pretty soon after qualifying for the loan.Thanks for having me here, and I look forward to meeting/interacting with you all !

It's a salaried job, probably doesn't pay great but you get experience on screening tenants and how to fix minor problems or how to hire folks to fix things and the prices for them.Don't forget the old fashioned get a regular job you are good at save your money and buy a rental.

I do inspections all the time for my investor clients at no charge.Eventually if you do enough work with a regular contractor, you could expect the same, until then, be prepared to pay for quality expertise.What I will warn you though is, while many think after just a few walk throughs that they know what to look for.....it takes MANY years to really know all the ins and outs of what is going on.
