If all else fails I can just study markets in the USA and read up in prep for after my graduate program to invest back at home.

If you need more headroom or the illusion of it and are good with a little more work, I would tear out the fails ceiling and use a paint sprayer to paint the floor trusses, ducts, plumbing, and wiring dark gray or white which is what I did in my personal home which only has 7’ ceilings in the basement.

Because you are not the party of legal record, the city may not notify you if Party A or C failed to pay taxes or no one is mowing the grass and there's now a $1000 pile of fines levied against the house.How about legal issues with Party A?
