If they were allowed to pay by personal check and/or certified funds, you should still offer to accept that.

Taking a local investor out to lunch or dinner at a nice place should give you so much more local flavor on investing and your goals then a national course that is general in nature. 

Local military bases and transient nature of the work force up here lends to good potential for creative buy and hold investors.
