@Greg MuchaIf you are targeting a home to purchase for your primary I would drive around and specifically target a few properties and visit in person.  

The local REI clubs I visit in my local area (st. louis) all seem to recommend some sort of marketing to find off MLS deals (Probates, Absentee owners, etc).

I would recommend going to visit the banker and know your plan.
