Our policy with subs is that you only get 50% up front if you have general liability insurance, a trade license, and proof of worker's compensation (or a waiver).Usually with these folks there are two issues: cost of materials and what the worker needs right now. 

You fund deal “mentor” teaches you the tricks of trade, split profit. 

Either you pay someone to do it, or you trade your own time to do this.

Also, if you plan on doing to work yourself, see if you can learn in germany... from the people i've worked with, they have excellent trade-men)
