I had no idea Home Depot even offered inspection services, but am not surprised to hear they’re subpar.Considering that the restroom is just about the only thing in the store employees can confidently direct you towards, I wouldn’t put much faith in their Inspectors ability either.

The trouble is that you probably need to take the old hinge pin with you to the hardware store so you can match it up, so the tenant doesn't have a door while you are shopping.

I would choose a target neighborhood in my area to invest in, and I would learn the area frontways and backways, walking the streets, taking notes, printing up a big map and making notes on it, visiting the shops and stores, eating at the restaurants, learning my way around the municipal building of the place.
