Search for distressed or boarded up homes, then reseach those properties to see if it is vacant, absentee owner, or if they are behind on their mortgage or back taxes etc.. send them a letter =)

It would be great up here because of the inherent moisture barrier but we were quoted $2/sq board ft & that seemed very high in comparison to other alternatives to render the required R30.

Stuff I initially learned here from guys like JScott, Will Barnard, local mentors, articles, books, and many more here.At the end of the presentation, I told them what I was looking to raise.They looked at each other, smiled, and said "I don't have a problem with that".This morning, I got a phone call from the man I met in the gym 4-5 years ago, of all places, telling me that they're on board and that I can contact my attorney to set up my LLC and draft the paperwork.Needless to say this has been a life changing event.I'm writing this to show everyone, particularly (us) noobies that occurrences like these are possible.

I am in the process of fixing this by replacing the vapor barrier with new plastic sheathing, replacing the fiberglass with foam boards, and air sealing the entire crawl including the exterior vents, and creating an air tight and insulated entrance door.
