Hi, I make $50k per year and have $25 thousand in savings, unfortunately I file a 1099 and not a W-2 so my question here is, what sort of hurdles would I face while trying to get started in real estate while continuing my job as an independent contractor here in Los Angeles, Ca.?

If you do the work it saves money but places your cost claim at risk, if you hire someone you are out of pocket, have a better chance of winning in court but may never collect.

I'd focus on saving more money and making more money.

That being said, the new goal is to find a SFH that can cover the mortgage while I save for more properties and ultimately provide positive cash flow when I decide to move out in the future.
