Renter's insurance is essentially like a Homeowners insurance policy for someone who does not own the home by the fact that it protects their personal liability anywhere in the world and offers other coverage for their own personal property and various other available endorsements.A "Landlords" policy is for the "Landlord" or the person who actually OWNS the property and it will protect that owners liability regarding anything associated with that location AND offer coverage for the home/structure itself, which the "Renter's" Insurance will not cover because the tenants have no "Insurable Interest" in the property since they do not own it.

They can essentially lend to whomever, and however, they want.That's not to say they don't have underwriting guidelines - but they do have more flexibility and can use a little more common sense in evaluating the big picture.
