Hi there, I’m an STR investor with 4 properties in the Bay Area / wine country and I’m looking to build my next project from the ground up — acquiring acreage somewhere beautiful, and building a mini-hotel or micro-community with 6-10 ADU-style units (similar to what TomuHaus offers). 

Can anyone share their thoughts on motel/hotel to apartment conversions? 

For example, here in Colombia, you can invest around $35,000 into a property, share of a hotel, etc. and it would be enough to qualify you for the 2-year resident VISA.

I'd say for 3-5 days get 2 airbnbs or hotels in areas you're most curious about.

I was recently told by Summit County that they currently do NOT assess the tax on STRs and only on hotels (which seems to not agree to the County ordinance). 

Hotels were full 24/7 They rented rooms for 12 hours instead of 24 (honest).
