The traditional fix is to either rewire, or have an electrician use a product called COPALUM.

The TSP is pretty simple and some people want a fancier product if they are taking their retirement savings out at once.

Often times manufactures discontinue certain lines and look to liquidate products that normally retail for $4+ per foot and can be found for under $2.

I have done deals like this with similar returns so I am not thinking it can't happen.. but I would consider myself a sophisticated investor and would not be asking people on the internet if it was a good deal..
