If it turns out that we do not make any deals during the trip what documents do I need to be able to deduct the trip and any expenses during the trip?

What a great opportunity to study a market beforehand, and then look at it on the trip, even in passing.

Instead of immediately responding (as Nick stated above) step back, consider it (recognizing that you'd be paying more money to individual of poor character) and call him back and say NO - i've decided to move in a different direction but if anything changes I will give you a call.

Going to a home improvement store is a 45 min-1 hr round trip for us so we keep stuff on hand for repairs. 

Not many of those characters around any more, however.

Keep in mind working with any small brokerage is more about character and quality of service than volume and numbers.

Account Closedwill be there as well, along with (if history is any indication) 50+ others, so likely worth the trip from up north (for two of you) if you're inclined.  

I told them that I was instructed to come speak to them about the payment plan, and the consigliere explained to me -- very condescendingly -- that a $500 deposit would be required that day with $2,041 due over the next 12 months, but that was just for the boxed materials on his desk that would give you EVERYTHING that the Vegas trip would provide, only you wouldn't be going to Vegas, 'cause that's only for people who were able to pay the $25,000 on the spot!

Of course, I will be watching the market from my US road trip or SouthEast Asia, but I'm sure the diligent folks like Chris, yourself, and others, will hopefully keep us up to date on the market also :)

This is completely out of character for me to discuss, but I am growing more and more anxious and confused.
