My brothers and and are new to real estate investing but we are planning a trip (August) to view communities and homes to that we are interested in purchasing this year in Tulsa, OK.

If we owned property in Brasil, I believe we could travel to visit family there and have a tax write off with it, as long as part of our trip was to tend to business matters in regards to the house.

And you could probably make the argument that during tough times, people will scale back and take "smaller, or more local" vacations, than say a trip out West skiing.
