Especially if like most boat ownership, your personal use of it is going to be sporadic at best.

I do realize that many people make boat loads of money buying properties based on (likely well analyzed) ‘speculation’ about equity growth.

I have lots of clients in the same boat- just getting started and trying to make the best possible choices as they move forward.

I am LITERALLY in the same boat as you with my savings at 50k/year and not knowing which route to take - well at least I was until reading almost every post on BP.  

So, if you are in this boat, call the assessor to see how they treat the matter and address the issue so you know what to expect instead of being surprised and caught short.Another tax issues comes about when taxes must be estimated, new construction or perhaps a renovation.
