My last W2 made it really challenging to pursue my multifamily dreams.

As a young man (20 years old) with dreams to own a large portfolio of commercial properties would it be best for me to use my money to begin investing in residential housing and then scaling to commercial properties or should I save up my money and dive directly into commercial properties once I have enough money saved to purchase my first commercial property.

It's good that you're "dreaming big" though. 

And we go into the first unit and hopes and dreams absolutely fell apart for that place.

It's possible for more of us to pursue this dream/venture, and this BiggerPockets websites exists for that reason.Now, you've asked a lot of the right questions and are sizing things up appropriately. 

So many Gurus selling a dream instead of any valuable secrets or education. 

I dream of one day paying off my college debt and having true financial freedom with my family and loved ones some day.
