Lousy autonomous learners, in my experience, hang out on websites like this one asking questions about whether they should pay thousands of dollars to gurus to teach them their mighty secrets.During my own PhD studies, which I today consider myself lucky to have stepped away from, I met just an incredible number of people whose education, far from providing any sort of intellectual liberation, had crippled them into pitiful creatures unable to form or express even a vaguely original thought.
