I'm fully aware of how aggressive the CA FTB is in the pursuit of revenue.I'm also comfortable taking a tax position if we have substantial authority.  

This may be a great starting place for someone who is looking to leave a dreaded job in pursuit of something better.

I wouldn't rule out turning it into a career in the long term, or a significant part-time pursuit. 

It'll help train your mind how to think, and that's an invaluable fundamental life-long skill.And, instead of wasting your spare time outside fo that on the foolish pursuits common amongst immature people and minds, study for and take the RE license test. 

When I had quit I had it just didn't make me happy to continue working since my interests always were in entrepreneurial pursuits.
