There remains a far greater variance between lenders with 2nd homes and investment properties, than there is variance for primary residences, since regulatory uncertainty is obviously going to lead to private sector actors tacking drastically different courses.

.: So they create a law and force the requirement on everyone even though the majority of Landlords are good, then they fail to enforce the law on the bad actors.

You may also be opening yourself up to a future lawsuit not only by the seller should he act, or fail to act because of misinformation you provided, but also from the buyer for tortious interference.  

That would sort of seem like they are expecting a violation of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act or they want to make sure you decide to return to that job.
