Hi All, I am trying to figure out what the general rules are when it comes to bedrooms in the attic for a multifam in NYC. I've seen a few 2 fam houses (one I'm currently looking at) that were advertised as 3 bedrooms...

I am looking to purchase a single family home in Queens and convert it to a two family house. 

The bedrooms are pretty small, so I was thinking a queen in both the bedrooms with a twin trundle under one of them.

I'm a brand new investor working on my first deal (NYC Queens based). 

If you're going to owner-occupy your first investment (aka Househack), NY has plenty of options in the outer boroughs - mainly Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. 

It sounds really good and it excites the mind because you're going to get a business that's going to borrow the money but in practicality I just don't see it in the market like what they say it's going to do for you.A lot of times what you get with these gurus and these educational programs that you spend thousands of dollars for or that local ria rep who's going to tell you that he's the king or the or she's the queen of something all of these methods that they're using you got to remember they're on the circuit to make money and they're not making it because they're executing on their strategy they're making their money because they're selling you on the strategy.

In that way, a house was often both "new" and "ancient" at the same time, because it still counted as ancient if it was built in the same spot (like the Great Wall of China, the stone parts of which weren't built that way until the time of Elizabeth I in England!).  

Anyone can recommend a title company that works with assignments in or around Newark,Elizabeth, or Union NJ?
