So I would still keep my job but start to get more involved like going to conferences and town council meetings.

Go to the council meetings, talk to residents as well as business owners.  

We read the local papers, blogs, websites etc... we attend the local council meetings, REI meetings, basically we want to be experts in the area we invest in.

A man from the British parliament was on tv the other day and stated that in the U.S. a man with early prostate cancer has a 5-year survival rate of 100%, the Britain, with their socialized healthcare, it's 77%.

(I will say there does need to be taken into account that our city council & Alachua County in general have a bit of a reputation for overreach in government.

There was a deed restriction on it, but all I had to do was contact the city real estate office and they took care of lifting the deed restriction with the common council.

Here, I've had a literacy council, habitat for humanity, a ham radio club, an RV club, a senior citizen organization, an organization for kids with disabilities and a cycling club.
