This proposal will obviously make buying your home less desirable since you either take the Standard Deduction or you take an Itemized Deduction, which includes Mortgage Interest on your Primary Home.All in All............... this is sounding DISASTROUS toward Real Estate in general.I think for those of us who are in route to financial independence, these are two road blocks which have been put out there for us to navigate through.In my mind, 3 questions come up.1) Did I misinterpret the Republican Tax Reform correctly with these two rules?

If they are modern and the rest of the home is nice it will probably not make a much difference.On a SFR it will impair the use of the yard space in the summer, that will put you in the same category as a corner lot.IMO a lot of major inner city roads are equal or worse than a freeway, because of ambulance and police cars, accelerating traffic and the occasional nonsense souped up car.I down own a property on a major street, so this is just my humble opinion.

We dont send trucks and men down the road to pick up materials and get " reimbursed "   to save you money .

Sounds like he gets wood from somewhere and splits and sells it at the property, and the fresh cut wood implies that it IS the current tenant.Personally, I wouldn't be too bothered by it, if I was able to verify that the operation was legal (no local ordinance prohibiting it, road side stand allowed, and here in Michigan we have bans against moving firewood due to the emerald ash borer, etc), that he was insured against injury, and that my own insurance didn't prohibit the activity.
