My wife never asked for a Luxury Car or designer clothes,,she was 100% on board with our life style,,Both of us together have made solid life together and like your wife, my wife was a stay at home mom for 10 years before she started working.  

. $2k in 2 weeks is not chump change and I believe "values her time" as so many have pointed out. 

For me I am in sales and commission environment so I prefer to spend more time on earning commissions which in turn I can pump into more passive style opportunities.If I was in a role where it required less time or had less earning upside I would most likely be more in favor of hands onHope that helps !
