We could not find any additional records of the basement being properly finished.If you can provide any further building records in regards to the basement being properly finished the Town could look into those.I tried to call the code official who sent me the email a few times and didn't get a reply. 

I think you are going to get a wide range of opinions here because ultimately where and how you choose to live/invest can be a very personal decision and vary based on personal values, desired lifestyle, investment strategy, etc.

Just be careful to properly comp your ARV for refinance purposes - it can be tricky to pick the right comps without knowing the city.Good luck!

@Eddie Torres probably, the small HOAs usually aren't as bad and may even be somewhat helpful in policing the front landscaping making sure tenants upkeep it properly

I have not done much work in Houston Proper, but lots in a bunch of other Texas cities. 

How do I properly keep track of when tenants don't pay rent, and if this was to happen, what would be the first step I would need to take?

@Ashton ClevelandThanks Ashton, I do know the state isn't super landlord friendly but I do think it's very manageable with a proper PM.

A proper pipeline is a must as is the ability to put leads into a followup drip sequence. 

Currently shooting for around the 500k mark as that’s affordable and lands me close to downtown for my preferred lifestyle, if it’s my own condo that I buy first.What would you recommend, buy your own home first or buy a rental (an investment property?)
