Only thing I can think of are gift cards.

Hams, gift cards or even a personal email/letter sounds good! 

They get a big tax refund (actually a gift, since they usually get back more than they put in) and squander it on a vacation or booze or drugs or new rims for their over-priced car.

But if you self-manage and have the gift of gab, or even the courtesy to wave hello and smile, it's actually easy and even enjoyable.

I might knock on his door with a nice gift- maybe a fruit basket or something, and just say you are introducing yourself to the neighbors and tell him how excited you are to be a part of his beautiful neighborhood.

Now, an outright gift - depends - a friend going through a divorce and needs money to move - sure. 

OR tell them , here its yours ,a free gift, you now own it.
