I would be more concern with the quality of the tenants - do they pay on time, have they respectfully maintained the property, lived peacefully there in compliance with the lease.

I'm going to disagree emphatically with @Steve Morris if you are in the wrong, tenants (and most (non-disordered) people) will respect you, if you apologize and fix the problem.
