If your main concern is the credit hit I would not worry about it too much as it takes 3-4 months at most to recover.

That's the main reason I'm trying to get as much advice as I can and then sort it all out from there.

All strategies have SOME validity and returns, but the main thing is what works best for you in your current state of investing.

If you can remove a light fixture from the ceiling in a room (dining room is usually easy since there is a light above where the dining table should be) and see what kind of electrical wiring is used, this will be a great help.
