Airbnb should not be a similar experience to renting a hotel. 

I am currently working on acquiring a commercial vacation rental property, which I plan to transform into an 18-suite boutique hotel, complete with a public bar/restaurant and a pool.

Buying an operating manufacturing business or even a hotel is not the same as a single family property to be used as a short term rental.

Feels like the best days of short-term renting might be behind us, what with all the new rules and hotel folks pushing back.So, here's my two cents: find a place that's a good fit for both long and short-term.

In addition, the type of building makes a difference, as an example a warehouse building with 4 walls and a roof will have much fewer components that can be accelerated vs. a "denser" building like a multi-store office building, hotel, or apartment complex.
