I'm in the process of retrofitting my duplex in Ottawa - a relatively easy one, just adding some sprinklers in the furnace room (self install + inspection for ~$1000) and some drywall in a basement hallway.First question - does the fire-retrofit inspection add value to the duplex, generally, in your experience?

All of the structural issues with the crawlspace are all related in some way, the foundation cracks may have shifted the structure a little bit causing the piers to rotate and lean and then the piers, when they leaned, maybe caused the girder to lose proper bearing.

I’ll add that just the attitude the lease implied toward the tenants almost caused us to throw our hands up and walk.Interesting that we were among the first tenants and it took a while to fill the relatively large shopping center.
