I grew up in Southcoast MA so am somewhat familiar with the Newport/PVD area.Why not just use your VA loan to buy your first four unit and then do a development after you've learned the lessons on that first one?

I am thinking of saving for several more years before I start looking into buying property.I grew up in the Hartford area.

In fact, I'd argue as a result of me being to establish a healthy real estate business in a state and territory far away from where I grew up or began my RE career, that I'm uniquely qualified to provide insight into the essential elements of successfully investing out of state.

I see a lot of continual upside for Vegas and I grew up there so I have am comfortable and familiar with the area.

Hi Beverly,Although I'm not local to Philadelphia anymore (I grew up in the Allentown/Bethlehem area), I have my PA RE license here in Pittsburgh.  

I should also mention I grew up working construction and have built several homes, I have just never been on the ownership side of things.
