Saving can be difficult with a growing family on a single income, there are many tools and budget aps out there that can help you with that.

By skinny, I'm referring to the possibility that going over budget increases in proportion to the size of the project.

This will give you an idea of budgeting for capital improvements (roof, ac, ect). 

In my area it is $6 sf to replace. 2000 sf*$6sf=$12000/10 year life span/ 12 months in a year=$100 per month for 1 item in a capex budget.

With my sec 8 tenants I typically do the highest allowed by their budget then only do a $99 deposit.

There is some budget available for this, but not for anything outlandish.

And I hope people will appreciate the things they have and not take things for granted (toilet paper has a new appreciation, no doubt; and I hope people have a better appreciation for truck drivers, medical workers, first responders, retail store workers, etc.).
