Not sure what you choices are.. but Alaska airline rewards never expire.. as long as you remain active once in a 36 month period.. you could not pay me to fly southwest  LOL.. they don't partner with anyone.. and in my mind you only get travel rewards if your going to use them for vacations.. to awesome destinations not to save 125 bucks on southwest.. but that's just my thoughts on it as a mileage junkie..

Since it is a lake property, I agree with @Erik Stewart that using it as a vacation rental may be an option, but you would want to know what the zoning allows in the city/ area for vacation rentals.

The other would be to just keep it in the family and use it as a vacation spot or possibly lease it out to a local farmer who could start farming it again.
