I think I can purchase about 5-6 cameras to monitor the entire property so it’s not a major operation.

I would have someone help you furnish/design (unless you are good at that)  and get professional pics - also get ring door/security cameras - smart lock - nest theromstat - Find a way to make your property unique or stand out somehow.

Respectfully disagree, in most states there are usury laws that do not allow you to charge double digits.

You could get locks that pair up to your phone to send individual codes to each guest, use door bell cameras and be responsive. 90% of being a good host is responsiveness to guests - inquires, problems and general communication.

I called the number on the scam, told him it was my property our office was down the street, and we are installing cameras and alerting the police.  

If they can't handle the digital interaction, you probably don't want to keep them as tenants.
