But there is still the cost involved in material and timeIf you do your own maintenance,  then the labor cost is on you.Wood gets scratched up no matter how well you try to refinish it more so that a flooring product that has an AO or double layer of ceramic bead that is factory applied, such as LVT's.

This worked well to reduce echo and sound of footsteps.We also put new flooring down for the landings with a noise suppressor layer under it.

They put gypsum boards over real tough southern yellow pine studs, then manually put on a brown coat over an inch thick, then a thin layer of egg shell finish.

ANY impermeable layer (your wood floors then epoxy) placed over it will accelerate the moisture migration resulting in the delamination of any & all overlays.
