If so, I would call over there to HR and see if they have a list you could get on of possible lodging available in the area.

We have paid for airline tickets to additional motivational and "learning" seminars while having to pay for our own food and lodging.  

Wanted to give an update from my perspective and see if you guys have any input on things.Here is where we are at, we were first told that regulations would go into effect in july, making it so that if you wanted to Airbnb your place you'd have to most importantly have that property as your primary residence, or else you could not rent it for less than 30 day periods at a time, you were also told that you would have to get a lodging license to rent which you can only get one and it would have to be your primary residence, (the one on your driver's license).

I love the area and prior to coivd we went up twice a year to the Douglas Ranch for fly fighing  staying at the lodge. 

Personally, I can’t imagine the zoning can stay the way it is forever because the area severely lacks lodging and due to the number of vineyards and breweries, will only grow tourism.

Others have info across multiple pages (taxes on one + zoning in another spot + codes is outsourced entirely).You'll also want to make sure to search the county taxing authority which is often (there are state exceptions) responsible for lodging tax collection. 

I was hoping that the mileage down and back and lodging would be entirely deductible.

We just spent the weekend in Vegas and found our lodgings through airbnb and it put us in a hotel. 

Since its MTR now, you wouldn't have to collect lodging tax (state specific) but just collect rent?
