The reason I do it is that I live where I do, in the oldest metropolitan statistical area of the USA, where there's an immense tradesman shortage on the retail level.

The down side is you suffer quite a lot, though learn immensely, in the process.

As a general rule, it helps immensely to have a great carpenter on your team as many house components (doors, built-ins) were made to order back then and do not come in standard sizes you can purchase at Home depot today. 

I am a new investor (emphasis on the new ;)) that recently joined BP, and have absolutely loved everything that is being shared and the immense amount of resources and information that is provided - shoutout to the creators!

Veridian is the only construction company touching affordability on new construction, but they build 4/5 homes in the county and are vertically integrated which helps immensely!
