Embarking on a NEW career after marriage is something that SHOULD be discussed with your spouse.

As mentioned above you could also look into a seller financed or a lease with option to purchase, however, I would recommend learning more about real estate and lending legalities prior to embarking on this endeavor.    

Well, we are embarking into areas that most likely do not consider.  

There are plenty of folk here with ample experience purchasing small to mammoth size apartment buildings/complexes and other commercial real estate.I would challenge that you can learn all the fundamentals you require to identify and successfully pursue your target type of multi-family building(s), right here for the cost of your time.Now, a caution as you embark on this mission.  

Attend your local Real Estate Investment club meeting and start networking and telling everybody you know what you are about to embark on.
