Now, I've taken a quick business trip there for 1 day recently and I'm aware that the northern part of the city is not really "culturally mixed" if that's ok to say..

A more stable of building wealth is to have as many rental properties as possible before I'm forced to retire from my physically demanding job, The safer route seems to be to pay off the mortgage rental as fast as possible, which I'm doing.

View earlier this month.I did not see one person there that looked like they hated their job.. and were burnt out of working in an cube LOLwhat I saw was huge diversity in culture a company that over the top treat their employees like nothing I had ever seenFood was great and legendary I guess and FREE you work there you never have to buy food or Coffee real Baristas in every building just about.. 

There are ways to live the American Dream(that is what he taught you how according to your comment, get a good job, get a pension, save, retire) and then there are ways of being wealthy.  

If I knew the level of wealth I would have attained in real estate investing, I would have started right around your age.

That being said, 30 years is a long time, and a lot of people were stupid and did dumb things,  ghetto areas are a dog-eat-dog world, whole different culture... so I'd say... look at his history in the past 5-10 years.   

The idea of creating wealth is exciting, but best to do the homework first, than get in over your head early, without the savings to recover.

Perhaps the problem isn't your investing strategy (get wealthy slowly), maybe it's your job?
