For what it's worth, I started out at age 22, the house was kind of dumpy so I did some initial, minimal cosmetic fixes and got a couple of roommates while I lived in the basement, which was not finished and served as a pretty powerful motivator to get it finished in my spare time.

I can get a writ for a month to month renter in as little as 30 days and no longer than about 45 from start to finish while a 12 month lease takes months, as many as 3 from the time you start the process so if a landlord drags their feet, it can be 4 or 5 months!!!

Typically, people stay in hotels or other lodging (AirBnB/VRBO) but I wanted to take a different approach.I would be looking to purchase a duplex with the intent to finish the basement and either convert to a full triplex if allowed or keep it as a duplex and rent out the basement separately. The Joint Travel Regulation (JTR) states that a member is not authorized lodging reimbursement if the member purchases or already owns a property that is used for lodging during official travel. It’s clear that I won’t be authorized reimbursement if I purchase the property under my name, but what if the title is under my LLC with me as the sole owner and rent out one of the units (probably the basement) to myself?

And the politician that gives out the most "free" stuff will be the one that continues to win elections. That sure as hell sounds like a damned good reason we want kids to learn calculus and program robots in high school (to do the jobs of tomorrow) but they never have to write out an amortization table (to figure out how they're getting screwed today).I'm still trying to figure out what kind of slick moves were pulled to kill Home Economics and basic cooking instruction in every high school in America.
