@Sean Trily Recently, there was a podcast episode about a former professional soccer player, who lives in Portland , Oregon but was able to find deals a few miles down on I-5 in Salem, Oregon.

Has anyone (who isn't a professional and licensed property manager) agreed to do this for a family member?  

It's a lot like a mechanic...if they are fair, can do good work quickly, can make professional recommendations....that would sound like a good fit to me. 

So far I have 1099, Advertising & Marketing, bank charges & Fees, Capital Expenses (for remodels) Car & Truck, Contractor, depreciation, donations, Employee benefits, insurance, interest paid, inventory assets, job supplies, legal &professional services, loans/points, meals & entertainment, office expenses, Rent & lease, repairs & maintenance, salaries & wages, taxes & licenses travel, utilities.

If we contact one, will they generally put us in touch with the other professionals they typically work with, or do we go out an find our own?

However my situation is rather unique.I want to know if I'm going about this the right way: and what better way to do it than by asking the professionals on BP?

Before I retired, I was a broker, residential/commercial RE appraiser, expert witness in State and Federal Court, and a professional RE investor.

Since the house is pretty close to public transpiration and Google/Apple/Hi-Tech company bus station, so we were thinking that maybe finish up the basement to have more bedrooms and bathrooms, would attract those high-tech working professionals to share the house and bump up the rent?

@Basit Siddiqi ,  let me know what you think.I know that is the norm, but I wanted to tell @John Vietmeyer that not all the professional think or interpret the guidance the same way. 

Baring there being some type of  irregular shaped lot or land improvemnets in the way (i.e. house, electric, drains, buildings, driveway, etc...) it should be able to be done.
