Trying to find a plumber to show up at 2AM when the tenant is calling panicking that the water heater is leaking all over the basement is very hard in your own are let alone thousands of miles away...Just my .02

That is not hundreds of people globally, but over 10k people, thousands per each facility. 

I've advocated putting curtains in rental property over spending money on mini-blinds and having them ruined by tenants. 

If you're going to spend a couple hundred thousand on real estate you may as well spend a couple hundred on a license.
