Hi BP forum,My father has fully paid off his commercial building mortgage recently, so his Corporation has now 100% equity on this property.

It will open doors on corporate world, but not sure about investments.

Based on my understanding, these pots of money are treated differently in the US vs Canada.The CRA changed its administrative position a few years ago to treat US LLPs as corporations for Canadian tax purposes, such that distributions from such an entity to a Canadian resident taxpayer are likely to be characterized as dividends.https://agtax.ca/cras-taxation...

In regard to returns, my REIT portfolio averages just over a 6% dividend yield and about 10% annual growth in price.As far as taxes, REITs aren't taxed at the corporate level.
