I’ve read several books/posts/blogs on tax benefits for RE investors, and even contacted a couple of CPAs who are active here on BP (even read their book), and besides poor communication skills, I was told that they couldn’t help me due to my high income and one of them referred me to a “larger “ practice but didn’t explain how that larger practice could help me!

Personally I like the BRRRR method, and I think it is very interesting because it needs so many skills to do.. finding the deal (knowing how to evaluate a possible deal, knowing your market), estimating rehab costs, networking to find good contractors or learning how to do it yourself, how to vet tenants and be a self-managing landlord, then knowing what your finance options are and executing on them, (ideally before you start), and then refinancing to do it all over again, getting better along the way.

You need to be able to estimate repair costs, have great negotiation skills, be able to successfully run comps and calculate ARV etc. there are some great informational blog posts on BP about wholesaling.
