I had paid for an appraisal ($500) and a home inspection ($250) up front and at closing they paid me back for the appraisal so all in it only cost me $250.

Hi @Jake Drappi, I can't speak to oil tanks at all, but regarding due diligence on this purchase I'd recommend having a full-blown home inspection done on the property by a quality home inspector.

Everything with housing has slowed to a crawl as well, so it's unlikely they'll get their updated voucher, find a new place, and get inspections done within a reasonable timeframe.

From what he says, all rentals will now have to apply and pay for a license and pay for an inspection every two years as well to make sure it meets their requirements.
