I love the idea of owning real estate free and clear.

It's 10 percent down at time of win and then the rest cash within 10 days and often they can sell out from under you the underlying obligation which can resolved before you take the property.

I am hoping to connect with both investors as well as Real Estate agents in this area to understand the market better ( I have lived elsewhere for the past 10 years) as well as what areas may make most sense and with what strategy.

From a 10,000ft view (if it was a real investment property) $29k profit (24% ROI) over 5 years is pretty slim.

Instead of renting, should I just buy real estate when I move there? 

If you explain the situation, perhaps he can give you some grace on getting it done in a more reasonable time.
