Has anyone bought a rental property that had an asbestos roof?

Second plumber eventually went on roof and found an appropriate size cleanout (it was covered) and got it cleared within an hour. 

Spreading out the load but under one roof is a solid idea.As for whether or not its a solid idea for your first property, there's so much to ask before anyone could know.

If you want to flip, all plumbing must be updated to be solid platinum and new roofs made out of flattened dinosaur bones.

Yes, most of them have already signed leases for the upcoming year, but there's no way those will be enforceable.The number of AirBnB rentals have been going through the roof in the last couple of years.

I am fortunate enough to not have to worry too much about income since between my day job and current passive income I don't have to worry about being keeping a roof over my head and can just focus on building something for my retirement and for my children should they want to work in real estate and real estate investing.

Plumbing, electrical, foundation, HVAC and roof remain unknown at this time but the optimist in me thinks most of this was likely operational pre-flood having first hand experience with others who repaired post Harvey.

Keep in mind just needing to replace the roof one time within the next 10 years or so could wipe out whatever savings remains in your repair budget after paying for routine maintenance, leaking faucets, landscaping maintenance, snow removal etc... 

But if the roof is bad or there is structural damage that's a no go.
