I think that their reason is that I could get insurance, fake an injury, and get paid.In your case, I think that you'll find the majority of contractors don't have work comp.

@Vincent Plant many folks are having trouble and without more context to the "how" you are exploring deals or what your goals are it is difficult to provide a solution that serves you. 

I just thought I'd chime in and mention that the Sault is heavily dependent on Essar Steel for jobs, and risks a collapsing economy if the plant were to ever shut down.
