Generally speaking that means everything up and until vertical construction starts.Developers buy tracts of land, subdivide, develop horizontally (build roads, install utils,etc.) and then put permits in place to build homes.

Wherever a K&T wire needed to travel horizontally or change direction, it will be anchored in a knob which makes it dreadfully hard to pull {this is why many folks cut off the exposed parts of K&T and leave the rest strung behind the plaster in walls and ceilings}.

Based on the article Bryan linked to above, it sounds like the "horizontal commonality" test is clearly not passed (there is a single investor) for each individual deal, which would indicate that a deed-of-trust is not a security.

Nice fixtures,but cheap, and try and find fixture covers that will not break when the tenant drops it while replacing a bulb.No horizontal blinds but rather vertical blinds where we must provide window treatments, and always the same manufacturer so that we can maintain a stock of replacement parts.
